FeliCa technology

(I resized this pic twice, if it messes up the blog layout again I'm sorry!!!!!)

Translation:
FeliCa port, Edy Card and other compatable cards can be used with this one touch scanner. Used with the "Osaifu Keitai" (wallet handphone) you can shop online and charge it to the phone. As you do not need to key in a credit number, you can be assured that your transactions are safe.

This is the laptop with the inbuilt handphone scanner I mentioned about in class that I want to share with you guys today!

Firstly, what is FeliCa? FeliCa is a smart chip created by Sony that is able to encrypt unique data each time it is used to prevent fraud and impersonation. Surprisingly, it is this FeliCa technolgy we use each time we tap our EZ-ink cards at the train stations and busses.

So, what does this do for us? FeliCa has been integrated into handsets in Japan, where users are able to use their mobile phones to shop, use at the ATM or use as an ez-link card all in one! Mobile phones nowdays are not longer just communication tools, rather like a personal lifestyle equipment we can't live without and the Japanese have taken this a notch higher by providing integrated solutions.

Who knows what is in store for FeliCa technology... personal ID? Or...

Forgot your e-mail password? In the new future, FeliCa may even eradicate the need for usernames and passwords with one tap, merging the usage of communcation technologies such as computers and mobile phones.

With FeliCa as a stepping stone for integrated lifestyle devices such as mobile phones, who knows what new technologies can offer for advancement of communication nowdays.
